Bhatkal: Around 31.27 quintals of rice, which were stocked illegally in a shed were seized here at Purvarga in the taluk on Sunday.

The shed belonged to Muhammad Yusuf. It is said that the raid was conducted by the officials following the information from public, who noticed that the rice bags were being attempted to transport. It is suspected that the seized rice maybe of government, which have received in the scheme of 'Anna Bhagya'. The vehicle driver and the house owner are absconding.

The raid was conducted by Food invigilator Praveen, Revenue invigilator Maitri, Salman and others were present.
