Mangaluru: As many as 31 cases have been booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in the last two months in commissionerate jurisdiction in Mangaluru, Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha said.
Speaking to mediapersons, he said over 7 kg of ganja, 30 grams of cocaine and 11 grams of MDMA powder had been seized in these cases.
Harsha said the police had taken measures to check the supply of drugs.
Assistance
Unfortunately, neither parents nor guardians of the drug addicts have approached the police seeking their assistance in controlling the menace.
The police have been sensitising the students and the public on the ill-effects of the drug menace.
He appealed to the parents to watch the activities of their children carefully.
“Apart from the substance abuse, many are addicted to inhaling the smell of petrol and nail polish in the city. The drug addicts should be considered as victims rather than as criminals. Professional help should be sought to come out of the addiction,” he added.
