Udupi:  Three Covid-19 fatalities and 855 fresh cases were reported in Udupi district on Monday.

With three more deaths, the total tally has increased to 236. The victims are, a 72-year-old woman from Udupi who suffered from pneumonia and diseases.

A 50-year-old woman from Udupi who suffered from pneumonia and respiratory problems. A 73-year-old man from Udupi who suffered from sepsis with septic shock and other diseases.

Out of 855 cases, 840 are in home isolation, while 15 were admitted to hospitals. As many as 628 patients are asymptomatic and 227 are symptomatic. Udupi reported 452 cases, Kundapur 369 cases and Karkala recorded 30 cases. Four cases were from outside the district.

The district has 6,582 active cases with patients undergoing treatment in different hospitals.

District In-charge Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the district will receive 1,000 Remdesivir vials shortly. He also instructed deputy commissioner to make use of CSR funds of corporate companies to handle Covid emergencies. Covid kits should be compulsorily given to the infected in home isolation. He said the government has approved the new oxygen plant at District Government hospital.

Meanwhile, arrangements have been made to procure oxygen from Bahrain and Kuwait. The government has also approved setting up of another testing laboratory in the district. The minister was addressing the district officials while reviewing the facilities in place for Covid treatment via video conferencing.
