Karwar: As many as 3,045 students are expected to write the Common Entrance Test (CET) at seven examination centres in Uttara Kannada district on April 29 and 30. To check exam-related malpractices, students are not allowed to carry mobile phones and even wristwatches to the exam centre, informed Deputy Commissioner K Harishkumar.
Speaking at a meeting organised to review the preparations made for conducting the CET in the district, in Karwar on Thursday, Harishkumar directed the authorities concerned to take all steps to ensure that the exams are conducted smoothly.
He said that prohibitory orders should be put in force in the area around the exam centres. Every exam hall should have a wall clock. Also, special arrangements must be made so that students can leave their watches outside the exam centre.
He said, relatives of candidates should not be deputed on duty in the exam centre where the candidates appear for the exams. Even the exam superintendent cannot carry a mobile phone to
the exam centre. Students must compulsorily get an identity card along with the exam hall ticket. Drinking water facility should be made available for students outside the exam hall
He also asked Hescom officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the exams.
Harishkumar said, a committee comprising three senior officials will supervise every exam centre. Each centre will also have an observer. He then asked the police to provide security during transport of the question papers to the exam centres.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Nagaraj Singrer, Pre-university Education Department Deputy Director M G Pol, District Backward Classes’ Welfare Officer Basavaraj Badiger, Tahsildars and principals of various colleges were present at the meeting.
