Mangaluru: In what is said to be one of the largest seizures of gold at MIA in the recent past, sleuths of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have seized 2.5kgs of gold from two employees of Spice Jet at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) at Kenjar here on Friday.
The value of the gold seized is estimated around Rs 70 lakh and was seized from the airline employees when they arrived here from Dubai via Mumbai.
The DRI officials refused to divulge further details of the case, including names of the accused airline staff asserting that the procedure was still not complete.
"We will come out with full details of the case tomorrow," said a DRI official, who does not want to be named. The official however confirmed the quantity of gold seized from the accused.
