Karwar: District incharge minister R V Deshpande informed that keeping the welfare of people in mind, the state government has released funds for the construction of bridges in Uttara Kannada.
He was speaking after inaugurating five day Kumta Utsav events at Mahatma Gandhi (Manaki) ground on Friday, he said 233 crore rupees has been released, through which 32 bridges would be constructed in the district. The MLAs from the district had submitted proposals for the construction of bridges in their respective constituencies and most of the proposals have been approved, he added.
Talking about events, he said that after Karavali and Joida Utsavs which were held recently. Now, Kumta Utsav is on and Kadambotsava will be held on February 18 and 19 at Banavasi.
Many cultural and entertainment programmes were held in three days. A comedy show by Srihari team of Mysuru, dance by a Russian team and a live band by Chandan Shetty were the main attractions.
