Kannur:  Customs sleuths seized 2.5 kg of gold from seven passengers who arrived at Kannur International Airport in two flights scheduled under Vande Bharat Mission on Sunday, Customs officials said here on Monday.

Customs Assistant Commissioner E Vikas-led team seized 2127 grams of gold from six passengers, who belong to Kasaragod and Kozhikode districts, arrived from Dubai in a Fly Dubai flight. The seized gold was concealed under their dress in compound form.

Another passenger who arrived by an Air India flight from Dubaion on Sunday night was detained with 449 grams of gold. He adopted the same modus operandi for smuggling, said Customs Superintendent Sukumaran.
