Karwar: Two persons were hurt in a road accident involving a collision between a car and a scooter here at Baithkol NH-66 in the outskirts of Karwar on Thursday.

The injured were identified as rider Maruti Datta Naik (36), a resident of Aversa in Ankola, and pedestrian Mahabaleshwar Krishna Marate (75), a resident of Avache in Ankola.

Sources said that the mishap happened when the scooter was heading towards Karwar route from Ankola, while the car was in the opposite direction. Both had a head-on collision, causing injuries to scooter rider and a pedestrian.

Due to the impact of the collision, the rider fell on the road and received injuries, and a part his scooter broke and hit a  pedestrian, who also sustained minor injury. They were then immediately rushed to the district hospital for treatments.

A case has been registered at Karwar traffic police station.
