Udupi: As many as 172 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Udupi district and the total number of Covid cases stood at 11,259, as on Saturday.

The total number of Covid deaths remains at 95 as no deaths were reported on Saturday.

Out of 172, 108 were asymptomatic and 64 were symptomatic.

Out of the new cases, 107 were from Udupi, 19 from Kundapur and 37 from Karkala taluks. Nine infected patients are from outside the district. The sources of infection of 34 cases are under investigation.

Ninety patients contracted the virus from primary and secondary contacts and two have international travel history.

As many as 789 swab samples were collected and sent to the lab for testing.

As many as 8,603 patients have been discharged and 2,561 active cases are being treated at home, care centres and Covid hospitals.
