14,555 students appear for PU II exams

Karwar: As many as 14,555 students from Uttara Kannada district appeared for the second PUC examinations which will begin from Friday.

As many as 6,259 boys and 8,296 girls had registered themselves for the exams. Meanwhile, the Pre-university Education Department has made preparations for conducting the exams in 30 centres across the district.

Three officers each from Karwar District treasury and Sirsi sub-treasury have been appointed to keep the question papers in safety. A total of 14 teams have been formed to carry these question papers to the exam centres. All the vehicles ferrying these teams have been fitted with GPS, informed Deputy Director of Pre-university Edcuation K T Bhat.

Deputy Commissioner K Harishkumar has issued orders imposing prohibitory orders in an area of 200 meters around the exam centre. All shops having photocopying machines operating around the exam centres have been asked to kept closed during the exam. The exams held between 10:15 am and 1:30 noon.

"Students without bus passes can also travel free in KSRTC buses by showing the hall tickets,” a KSRTC source said.
