Udupi: As many as 135 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Udupi district on Sunday. Thus, the number of people testing positive for Covid-19 in the district has increased to 2,223.

According to officials from the health department, as many as 27 patients suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI), Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Covid suspects had been admitted to the hospital. A total of 455 throat swab samples had been collected in the district and sent for testing on Sunday.

A total of 24,837 samples had been tested in the district so far. As many as 1,628 Covid-19 patients had recovered and were discharged from the hospital. As many as 584 Covid patients were undergoing treatment at various hospitals and in home isolation, according to sources.

On Sunday, 42 people were discharged and 98 people are in home isolation, undergoing treatment in the district.

Of the 135 positive cases, 60 are from Udupi, 52 from Kundapura and 23 from Karkala. Among the infected, 70 are men, 55 are women and 10 are children.

Of the positive cases, 10 have inter-district and international travel history, while 31 suffering from ILI and five with SARI too have been tested positive for Covid-19.
