Karwar: Eleven cases of Covid-19 were reported in Uttara Kannada district on Sunday. Of them, five are from Karwar, two each from Siddapur and Bhatkal, and one each from Haliyal and Dandeli.
Another two patients hailing from Uttara Kannada are availing treatment at Mangaluru, and their information has been included in Dakshin Kannada list.
The patients include a 44-year-old man working in Siddapur Taluk Hospital, and a 25-year-old woman working in KIMS in Karwar. This apart, a 22-year-old man from Karwar, 73-year-old woman from Siddapur, and 80-year-old man from Dandeli had come in primary contact with other patients. A 16-year-old boy from Karwar, and 25-year-old youth from Bhatkal had returned from Bengaluru, and source of infection of four people is still being traced.
On Sunday, six people who were cured of Covid-19 were discharged from the hospital in Karwar.
As on Sunday, the total Covid cases stood at 596 in Uttara Kannada with 364 active cases, 227 recoveries and four deaths.
A 69-year-old man from Sultan Road in Bhatkal suffering from respiratory problems died on Saturday midnight. After death, his throat swab sample was sent for testing, and the report said he had Covid-19.
