Udupi: As many as 109 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the district on Saturday. With the confirmation of 109 infections, the Covid cases in Udupi have increased to 2,088.
The district had witnessed 10 deaths due to Covid-19. As many as 492 Covid-19 patients were being treated in hospitals across the district. The reports of 537 samples sent for testing is awaited as on Saturday. Throat swab samples of 524 persons were collected in the district on Saturday. Eighty-six of them had Influenza-like Illness (ILI). Meanwhile, samples of 317 persons who had contact with those who had already tested positive for Covid-19 were collected.
As many as 1,586 patients were discharged from the hospital. As many as 2,197 patients are in home quarantine in the district. A total of 21,757 out of 24,382 samples had tested negative.
Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said that in order to contain the spread of the virus, public transport was banned. More than 25 cases had been registered against bus owners for flouting social distancing norms.
