Honnavar: One fisherman went missing, while three others were rescued after a boat in which they were carrying fishing activity capsized off here at Kasarkod beach in Honnavar taluk on Monday morning.

It is reported that large stones have been laid for the construction of the port at Kasarkod Beach, which prompted fishermen to land their boat from the nearby Eco Beach and attempt to fish, but the boat sank when it was hit by high waves at the relevant place.

Three fishermen, Vijay Christadas Fernandez (40), Shankar Tandell (38) and Kameshwar Tandell (39), managed to reach the shore, while Damodar  Tandell (30) went missing after drowning in the sea.

Upon receiving the information, Police along with fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and started searching for the missing fisherman.

The missing fisherman is said to be married and has a four-year-old daughter.
