Bhatkal: Madina Welfare Society on Tuesday submitted memorandum to Town Municipal authorities demanding upgradation of basic infrastructural facilities in the Ward 1 & 2, during after attending a 'Janaspandana' meeting here with officials.
Addressing the list of grievances, the memorandum stated that there is a breakdown in the street lights in the area, which haven't been repaired, as a result causing darkness after sunset. The lack of proper drainage is causing the stench of the sewer. There are lots of pits and potholes on the roads, causing it difficult for motorists and pedestrians especially in the night hours.
The pits have become breeding ground for mosquitoes. The area has seen a spike in the cases of Dengue and Malaria fever due to the unchecked breeding of mosquitoes, it added.
On this occasion, TMC chief officer Devaraj, TMC Councillor Shabeena Taj, TMC health officer Sujiya Soman, Shastri, Madeena Welfare Society President Prof. Zarzari, General Secretary Maulana Irfan Nadvi, Sajid Musba and many others were present.
