Bhatkal: Uttara Kannada district administration along with Bhatkal Taluka administration, Taluka Panchayat, Bhatkal Municipality and Jali Pattan panchayat jointly observed 'International Beach Cleaning Day' here at Murdeshwar in the taluk on Saturday.
Presiding over the event, Bhatkal assistant commissioner Sajid Ahmed Mulla flagged off the cleaning drive.
Speaking after inaugurating, he said, Cleanliness is not one-day job. It should become our culture. It is a matter of pride that the cleanliness programs are being undertaken in India. If the public can't take up a cleaning drive daily, they should atleast take up once a week to keep the surroundings clean. Murdeshwar is a world famous tourist place and it is our responsibility to keep the beach clean for the convenience of tourists. He said that he was pleased to see large number of officers along with civilian workers participating in this drive.
On this occasion Bhatkal Tahsildar VP Kotralli, staffs of Town Municipality, taluka panchayat office, Tahsildar office, AC office, Lions club members and many others were present.
