Karwar: Jayashri Moger, the current zilla panchayat president, was elected to the ZP from Hebale constituency of Bhatkal taluk on fake SC documents, said ADGP (director of civil rights enforcement of Bengaluru) in a letter to the Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner.

Based on a complaint filed by Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti’s Bhatkal unit president, the ADGP had verified all the alleged fake SC certificates submitted by Jayashri during the 2016 ZP polls and confirmed them as fake.

The DSS alleged that Jayashri belongs to Moger caste, that comes under category I. But, she collected fake documents from Bhatkal tahsildar claiming that she belongs to Moger caste, which comes under the SC category. After inquiring into the issue, ADGP asked the DC, who is also president of the District Caste Verification Committee, to inquire into the issue and submit a report.
