Karwar: A 26-year-old pillion rider of a two-wheeler was run over by a truck near Toduru village in Karwar taluk on Tuesday, when two bikes coming from opposite direction collided headon.

Karwar rural police sub-inspector said Shantaram Banavalikar (26) of Belekeri in Ankola taluk died on the spot, when he was proceeding towards Ankola from Todur with another person. It is said that a speeding two-wheeler coming from the opposite side hit their vehicle. Banavalikar, who fell off the bike, was run over by the truck.

Karwar rural police arrested the truck driver and registered a case.
