Bhatkal:  Team Varun Mangaluru raced to a 42-20 win over Lion Bhatkal and lifted the Tippu Sultan kabaddi title at Inter District kabaddi Tournament organized by Sultan Youth Welfare Association (SYWA) here on Monday.

The winning team Varun Mangaluru was awarded with a trophy along with Rs. 55,555 while runners up Lion Bhatkal were awarded Rs. 33,333 along with a trophy. The third place was secured by Shivamogga while YMSA secured the fourth place.

Ashique who played for Team Varun Mangaluru declared Best all-rounder of the tournament and player of the final match, while Mudassir Mubarak of YMSA declared best catcher and Venkatesh of Mangaluru as best rider of the tournament. Team Moonstar Bhatkal was awarded as Best Discipline team of the tournament.

The closing ceremony was started by the recitation of verses from the holy Qur'an by Hafiz Fawaz Musba after which Sameer Momin welcomed the guests and the spectators. Chief guest of the closing ceremony, CPI Suresh Nayak, TMC President Matta Mohammed Sadique, Tanzeem General Secratry Mohiddin Altaf Kharuri, Kazia Abdus Sattar, Convenor of tournament Abdus Sami Medical, Mustafa Askeri, Moulavi Abubaker Tonse, Sridhar Naik, and President of SYWA Mohtesham Mohammed Azeem were present on the occasion.

Patron of SYWA SM Syed Ahmed Parvez delivered the vote of thanks and the ceremony ended at around 2.00 AM
