Karwar: Various taluk-level competitions have been organised for school and college students as part of Karavali Utsav to be held from December 10 to 12.
Folk dance, skit, ‘Voice of Uttara Kannada’ (singing), rangoli and drawing competitions will be held in respective taluks on December 3 to 4, informed Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul.
The folk dance competition is for degree and pre-university college students. Each team must have between 10 and 12 students including background singers, recorded music cannot be used.
The team winning first prize will be given Rs 3,000 and second prize winner Rs 2,000.
They will be given chance to perform at the district-level Utsav.
In the skit competition, high school and pre-university college students can participate. Each team must have maximum of eight students. Props for it have to be brought by the team. First prize winner will be given Rs 2,500 and second prize winner Rs 2,000.
‘Voice of Uttara Kannada’ competition is for high school and pre-university college students. First prize winner will get Rs 1,000, second prize winner Rs 750 and third prize winner Rs 500.
Rangoli competition is open for all and first three prize winners will get Rs 500, Rs 400 and Rs 300 respectively.
Drawing competition is for high school students and prize winners will get Rs 500, Rs 400 and Rs 300.
All the winners will be presented the prizes during Karavali Utsav and will get the chance to perform during district-level Karavali Utsav.
