
Bhatkal: In a significant development, IAS officer Tejaswi Naik, who hails from Siddapur in Uttara Kannada district, has been promoted as Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Labour & Empowerment, according to sources close to him.
A 2009-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, Naik was serving as the Private Secretary to Union Minister for Heavy Industries H. D. Kumaraswamy. He is known for his administrative efficiency and firm approach during his tenure in Madhya Pradesh, where he built a reputation as a capable and result-oriented officer.
Sources said that Naik played a key role in effectively implementing the Jal Mission scheme in Madhya Pradesh, which received international recognition, reflecting his strong administrative capabilities. Earlier, he had also served as Private Secretary to Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda.
Considering his vast experience and performance, the Central Government has now entrusted him with the important responsibility of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Labour & Empowerment.
Naik’s wife, Swati Meena Naik, is also an IAS officer and is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
