Karwar: The district comes to halt as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for ''Janata curfew'' to prevent coronavirus spread evokes a good response on Sunday in Uttara Kannada district.

Keeping away all forms of differences, people in Uttara Kannada district have been staying at home since 7 AM to support the Janata Curfew. A week ago, the government had imposed restrictions on malls, theaters and public events.

All shops and business establishments have been closed. The district wore a deserted look as people chose to stay indoors.

Coronavirus cases in India crossed the 300 mark on Saturday March 21. Despite lockdowns in various states including Karnataka, the pandemic seems to be on the rise. In Karnataka alone, five fresh cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total to 20.
