Mangaluru: Mangalore MLA U T Khader said that there is a need to utilise alternative sources of energy like solar energy for sustainable development.

He was speaking during the Sampoorna Swaccha - Sampoorna Solar Grama programme, held as a part of Azadi Ka Amrith Mahotsava, organised by Janashikshana Trust, Selco Solar Light Private Limits, Ullal Taluk Panchayat and Gram Panchayats at Mudipu.

Selco DGM Guruprakash Shetty said that solar energy is eco-friendly energy which can become a source of livelihood and helps in sustainable development.

Entrepreneur Ramesh Shenava presided over the programme.

Jana Shikshana Trust director Sheena Shetty said people should strive for solar villages.
