Bhatkal: A family landed in trouble in Bhatkal after an unknown car was found in their compound here at Mohiuddin street 2nd Cross in Madeena colony, Bhatkal. The Forest Department officials reached their house concerned and began to question the family members and took them in their custody for interrogation.

At around 8 AM, 'Extreme Captiva' named vehicle with a Maharashtra registered number plate was found outside a house, after which forest officials rushed to the house and started inquiring about the vehicle. The family members said that no car was in their compound till 6 AM, but without their knowledge, when and who drove the car here by 8 AM is astonished them.

Bhatkal Range Forest Officer Swetha Dewadiga, said, "We had received a verified report that an animal is being hunted and taken away from Gersoppa forest in Honnavar on this vehicle. We tried to chase, but the driver fled breaking the barricades on the roads, including at Shirali".

Locals suspected that while the vehicle was being chased, the driver turned towards Mohiuddiin Street, and after passing through several streets, and entered another street at Badriya Colony. When he found out that there was no road ahead, he left his vehicle outside the house concerned and fled. According to the locals, the family members of the house where the vehicle was found outside have nothing to do, so it is not right to harass the family members.

After much investigation, Forest Department officials seized the vehicle. It has been reported that more than 100 kg of wild buffalo meat has been found inside the vehicle.

Bhatkal Town PSI Bharat and other officials were also present. The investigation is underway.
