Udupi: Under the month-long ‘Operation Suraksha' which began in Udupi district on Monday ,the district police booked 581 cases for traffic and other related violations against private buses, lorries, two- wheelers and other vehicles.

Cases had been booked against private buses for overloading, using shrill horns, rash driving and not wearing uniforms while driving.

Superintendent of Police, K. Annamalai, said that the police had done patrolling on NH 66 from Hejmady to Shiroor and on Padubidri to Karkala Road.
