Bhatkal: A two-day pro Kabaddi tournament in the fond memory of the late Zia Shahbandari has been organized in Bhatkal from Wednesday, February 3, which will be telecasted live on SahilOnline. Organized by Cosmos Sports Center, the floodlight tournament is being participated by more than 25 teams from Bhatkal, and is expected to be very interesting and spectacular.
The matches of the tournament will be played at Bhatkal Sports Ground (Sim Enclave) located opposite to TFC hotel. The opening ceremony will start at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, while the first match will be played at 5 PM.
Famous businessman from Jeddah Qamar Saada will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony, while Dubai-based businessman and Corona Warrior Atiqur Rahman Muniri, Dammam-based businessman and chairman of SIM Group Siddique Irshad Mohiuddin, President of Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem SM Syed Ahmed Parvez, General Secretary of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen Siddique Ismail, Bhatkal TMC President Parvez Khasimji, Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Bharath, President of Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation Maulana Azeezur Rahman Ruknaddin, and Former President of Cosmos Sports Center Ismail Chadubapa will be attending as the guest of honor. The tournament will be presided over by Cosmos President Maulana Irshad Naite Nadvi.
Cosmos General Secretary Ismail Anjum Gangavali Nadvi informed that Kabaddi has been played in Bhatkal for a long time, it is a traditional sport here and youngsters play it with full interest and diligence. But for some time now, the trend of Kabaddi has been declining in the town, which is why we have organized this tournament. He said that Ziaullah Shahbandri was the best Kabaddi, Volleyball and Cricket player of Cosmos, who passed away recently. This tournament had been named after him so that the new generation could know that Kabaddi and Volleyball had a gentle and a kind captain like Ziaullah.
Convener of the tournament Abu Faisal Mohtasham said that the final match of Flood Light Kabaddi Tournament will be played on Thursday. The first place team will be awarded Rs. 55,555 in cash and trophy while the second place team will be awarded Rs. 25,555 with trophy. A cash prize of Rs 5,555 and a trophy will also be given to the third team. Similarly, the best all-rounder of the tournament will be given Rs 5,000 while the best rider and best catcher will be given Rs 3,000 in cash.
