Bhatkal: Two persons including a Bhatkal man have been arrested at the Kannur International Airport in Kerala on the charges of smuggling gold from Dubai, and around 1582 grams of gold worth about Rs 83 lakh has been seized from them.

According to the reports, a raid was carried out based on the authentic information received by Deputy Commissioner of Excise Department E Vikas, during which two accused were arrested. One accused hails from Kozhikode in Kerala while the other hails from Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district.

According to a statement issued by the Excise Department, 1466 grams of gold worth 76,96,500 rupees was seized from a passenger belonging to Kozhikode and 116 grams of gold recovered from a passenger belonging to Bhatkal is worth 6,09,000 rupees. 

Both of them were arrested on Friday.
