Mangalore: Three persons including a married couple died due to electrocution outside their house at Ujjodi on the outskirts of the city on 29th January, Sunday afternoon.

The victims have been identified as Valerian Lobo (55), his wife Hazmy Lobo (51), residents of the house where the tragedy took place, and Sandeep (28), a hotel waiter from Moodbidri.

According to the official reports, the incident took place when Sandeep was climbing an iron ladder supported by a coconut tree adjacent to the house of Lobo to pick black pepper.

The ladder slipped and fell on a high-voltage wire along with Sandeep, which resulted in his instant death. Valerian Lobo, who was holding the ladder, also witnessed death in the tragedy. His wife, Hazmy also breathed her last, in an urgency to rescue him.

It is learnt that Valerian Lobo was working as an AC mechanic at NMPT, while Hazmy Lobo was working at Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work in Mangalore. The couple is survived by two children.
