Karwar: Deputy Commissioner K Harish Kumar has directed the Municipal Commissioner to open a tender facilitation centre at the City Municipal Council in the City, in terms to help the contractors for the approval of various works including drinking water supply without any errors.
He noted this while addressing the officials during a meeting held to discuss the drinking water-related problems and other issues under the limits of CMC at Deputy Commissioner’s office in the City on Friday.
After learning that the contracts are not being approved and developments works are being delayed due to non-fulfilment of tender rules, the deputy commissioner said, a tender facilitation centre should be set up, in terms tohelp the contractors to know about the procedure need to be followed before taking part in the tender process and measures to be followed. This platform will help the contractors to complete the works assigned to them in a particular time period, he added.
There is a need for immediate solutions for the drinking water problems which are haunting the many localities in the City including Baithkol. Hence, additional tankers should be arranged for the supply of drinking water, he said.
Expressing displeasure over the working style of Municipal Environment Engineer, Deputy Commissioner Harish Kumar said, there is a need for creating awareness among the public about the segregation of waste in its original place. Because, both the wet and dry litter are being mixed and dumped in the garbage collector unit, which is creating problems, he said.
He said that the bills of street lights are increasing day-by-day. Hence, the officials concerned must look into the issue and remaining files should get approval,
He expressed happiness after learning that the revenue collection under the limits of the municipal council is more than Rs 7.30 crore.
According to the documents, there are 1,684 shops which have licences in the city, however, there are more shops then the registered ones. Hence, the officials should visit and inspect every shop, the DC said and warned that online services should be adopted in the District Urban Development Planning Cell.
There is a good opinion about the houses constructed for the municipal workers under the Gruha Bhagya scheme. In future, he will pay a visit to the place where houses were built and inspect the works, he added.
Municipal Commissioner Yogeshwar, Urban Development Cell Planning Director Vinayak Palankar, Engineers Viraktimath, Mohan Raj, Mallikarjun, and Yakub Shaikh were present.
