Bhatkal: An empty tanker overturned after colliding a scooter on Muglihonda NH-66 in Bhatkal on Wednesday, causing injuries to mother-son duo riding on the scooter, and a tanker driver.

The injured are identified as Shamoon Imtiyaz Bailoorkar (32) and his mother Khatoon Imtiyaz Bailoorkar (58), residents of Manki who were on the scooter, while the tanker driver is identified as Manjunath (50), a resident of Tamil Nadu.

Sources said that the incident happened when the empty tanker was heading towards Hubbali from Mangaluru, while the scooter was on the way to Manki from Shiroor. All the injured were taken to Mangaluru after giving first aid treatment at Bhatkal Government Hospital.

A case has been registered in Bhatkal rural police station.
