Shivamoga: The MR vaccination drive, targeting 4,25,769 children in the district, began on 7th febraury, tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner M. Lokesh launched it at Vasavi Vidyalaya. According to the sources, a few parents of students at the Government Primary School in Donabhaghatta village in Bhadravati taluk had opposed administering the vaccine. But officials of the Department of Health and Family Welfare visited the village and counselled the parents. Following this, the parents gave a written consent.

Meanwhile, a student of the government primary school in Mattur village complained of giddiness and vomiting after being administered the vaccine. Doctors provided him medicine intravenously on the school premises itself. Rajesh Suragihalli, District Health Officer, said the student is stable and recovering.
