Karwar: The KSRTC Staff and workers’ union members staged a protest in Karwar bus stand stopping the bus service for some time demanding immediate arrest of the persons who had assaulted driver Mehboobsab and conductor Uday Naik.

The protestors submitted a memorandum to CPI Sharngouda VH, alleged that such incidents were repeating in the depot limits. The assaults on the drivers and conductors on duty had created a fear among the workers. This had been affecting the routine works. Therefore, the accused should be arrested and strict action should be taken, they demanded. The driver and conductor were assaulted on Karwar Gabithwad route on Friday night. He incident took place near Cittakula Police Station. Both the injured were admitted to district hospital.

A case has been registered at Chittakula Police Station. The protest created problems for commuters.
