SpiceJet suspends two employees over gold smuggling issue

Mangaluru: For their alleged involvement in smuggling 2.5 kg gold worth over Rs 75 lakh at Mangaluru International Airport, the SpiceJet has taken disciplinary action against two employees who were taken into custody by the Directorage of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on July 15.

The two suspended employees have been identified as Mohammed Anif (Sr CSE, Airport Services) and O A Muddaiah (security officer).They have been placed under suspension with immediate effect pending complete enquiry and investigation by relevant agencies.

"SpiceJet, as a responsible citizen would like to reiterate that the airlines has zero tolerance for any malpractices by the employees and will take such strict action against them as deemed necessary," a press release said. The organization also stated that the SpiceJet would extend all support to the officials concerned for a smooth proceeding.
