Karwar: It has been planned to develop software to get exact information about the flood in advance in order to save people from its impact, said Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan. 

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, he said, people in Uttara Kannada district face trouble often due to floods during the rainy season. Hence, it has been decided to develop software to give prior instructions and information to people about the floods. A proposal in this regard has been submitted to the government, he added.

He said: “Effective measures will be initiated to tackle natural calamities like floods in the district. With the help of technology, we can save people in flood-prone areas by getting prior information about it. Efforts will be made to implement this new system before the next rainy season,” he stated. 

He said, local people themselves cleared mud from the highway in Anashi Ghatta. Their service is noteworthy, praised.

He said, Covid-19 cases are under control in the district. At present, the Covid positivity rate is less than 1 per cent in the district.

The vaccination drive is receiving good response. About 6 lakh people in the district have already taken the first dose of Covid vaccine, he added.
