Snakebite injures school student in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured after being bitten by a snake in the school premises on Tuesday at around 3:30 PM. 

The boy has been identified as Alfaz S/o Sartaj. 

It has been learned that a 5th standard student of a Government school located in National Colony of Murdeshwar, was in the classroom when the pencil fell out of the window. As he went out of the classroom to fetch his pencil, a snake suddenly bit his leg.

Alfaz was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Murdeshwar, from where he was shifted to the Bhatkal Government Hospital. He was given nearly twenty injections at Bhatkal Hospital to neutralize the effect of the snake venom and later advised to take him to Kundapur or Manipal Hospital for scanning on doctor's instructions.

On receiving the information, officials of Bhatkal Block Education Office reached Bhatkal Government Hospital. Similarly, teachers and other officials of Murdeshwar Government School too reached the hospital.
