Sirsi: The historic Banavasi on the banks of Varada is all set to host the Kadambotsava which is gaining popularity year after year.

The cultural extravaganza would be held on February 8 and 9 and all preparations to hold the event have been made. This also happens to be the 25th celebration of Kadambotsava and the main stage named after Mayurverma is all decked up.

As a prelude to the event, an attractive procession would be taken out from the Madhukeshwar temple at 2:30 pm. School children and folk teams will perform throughout the procession.

The ‘jyoti’ rally which began from Gudnapur on Thursday, will reach the venue on Saturday.

The Kadambotsava would be inaugurated with this ‘jyoti’. On the same stage, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will present the prestigious Pampa award to senior writer Dr Siddalingayya.

On both days there will be special talks, cultural programmes, indigenous games, and the winners of the competition will be awarded prizes.

The Kadambotsava will also feature Krishi Mela, flower, fruit display, dog show and cattle exhibition.

A total of 50 art teams will perform and display the rich culture, art and tradition of the region.

Over 10,000 chairs including 500 for VIPs has been put in front of the main stage and over 75 stalls will be set up selling artifacts.
