Sirsi: In a swift corrective action, the Education Department rectified an error in the SSLC marks card of a visually impaired student who had appeared for all subjects but was mistakenly marked absent in one paper.
The issue came to light after the SSLC results declared on Thursday showed that Liza Khanam, a student of Union High School in Sirsi, was marked absent in the Science exam despite having attended it. The discrepancy was reported the same day by SahilOnline, drawing attention to the error.
Following this, local MLA Bhimanna Naik intervened and urged Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa to address the issue immediately.
Acting on the MLA’s request, the Examination Board re-evaluated the case and corrected the error, issuing a revised marks card.
The prompt response ensured justice for the student, who had been distressed due to the mistake.
With the correction, Liza Khanam secured an impressive 96.48%, scoring 603 marks out of 625.
The swift resolution drew appreciation from the student’s family as well as district education officials, who commended the timely intervention.
