ATM burgled in Sirsi; around 17 lakh rupees stolen

Sirsi: Miscreants struck an ATM of a private bank and made away with about Rs. 17 lakh near Hostel Circle on Yellapur road in Sirsi town on late Sunday night, police said. The burglars broke the open ATM of the ICICI Bank using a gas welding machine.

They also tried to break the open ATMs of Karnataka Bank and Canara Bank, but failed. The police have begun an investigation based on CCTV footages.

The exact amount that was burgled from the ATM is not yet known. Bank officials are collecting data from their servers. A complaint has been registered at New Market police station of Sirsi.
