One killed after bus rams bike at Bhatkal

Bhatkal: A 34-year-old Bank clerk died after a speeding private tourist bus rammed his bike on Shirali NH 66 in Bhatkal on Sunday night. 

The deceased has been identified as Santosh Achari, employed as a clerk in KDCC bank of Karki branch in Honnavar taluk.

According to eye witnesses, the incident took place around 9.30 pm when Santosh was returning to his house in Manki, Honnavar taluk after visitng relatives at Bhatkal. 

The speeding bus hit the bike from the opposite direction and Santosh went under the wheel. The force of the collision was extremely gruesome and the helmet of the bike rider split into pieces and caused the rider to receive serious injuries on his head. The pain he was under was unbearable and caused him to succumb on the spot.

Hundreds of people gathered soon after the accident. Bhatkal police also rushed to the spot and shifted the body of Santosh to Bhatkal Govt hospital with local support.

A case has been registed in Bhatkal rural police station and bus driver has been arrested.
