Self proclaimed bandh in Sirsi on Feb 24 demanding separate district

Sirsi: Demanding separate Sirsi district for all the seven talukas in the ghat region of Uttara Kannada district, a self proclaimed bandh in Sirsi has been called on February 24 from 7 AM to 2 PM, informed Sirsi District Horata Samiti President Upendra Pai.

Speaking at the press conference on Monday, he said, the committee will take into confidence the support of locals and various organizations to strife for separate Sirsi district. A protest rally shall also be marked on the same day.

Convenor of the Committee, M M Bhat Arekoppa said that they have already met Chief Minister Yeddyurappa and Revenue Minister R Ashoka in this regard and have explained them the problems faced.

Another member, Pramanand Hegde said that black flags will be waved at those who become obstacles in the development of the district.

On this occasion, general secretary of the Committee Manju Moger, City Municipality President Ganapathi Naik, Vinayak Achari and others were present.
