Bhatkal: With an aim to create awareness about the dangers of the NPR and NRC, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Saturday launched a nationwide door-to-door campaign ‘Kagaz Nahi Dikhayenge’. By notifying the newly amended Citizenship Act, the Modi government has “disdainfully ignored the ongoing protests against the CAA, NPR and NRC across the country,” it said.

The SDPI launched the “Kagaz nahi dikhayenge” campaign in Madeena Colony, Bhatkal.

After launching, SDPI Uttara Kannada District President Taufique Byari said that the government did not show any democratic trait in it. “The whole nation is in the streets against this law. Instead of talking to protesters, they are spreading falsehood to confuse the people,” he alleged.

Party leaders and workers in a procession went from door to door to educate the people about the dangers involved in showing citizenship papers to the government staff who would sooner or later visit homes to ascertain the citizenship rights of each individual. The campaigners told the people, “If NPR data collectors knocked on your doors, simply give them information, but do not show or share any document related to your citizenship.”

Besides the 'Kagaz Nahi Dikhayenge’ protest, the SDPI will organise various public programmes including conferences and seminars to educate the people about the real dangers from the CAA, NRC & NPR, he said.

On this occasion, SDPI district secretary Abdul Karim, District council member Siraj Bangali, PFI Uttara Kannada district President Maqsood Chandavar, Bhatkal assembly SDPI President Waseem Manegar and others were present.
