Bhatkal: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended to the Central Government the nomination of Nagendra Naik, a well-known High Court lawyer from Bhatkal, for the post of High Court Judge. If the recommendation is approved, Advocate Nagendra Naik will be Bhatkal's first person to become a High Court judge.

It may be recalled that the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended Nagendra Naik for the post of High Court judge for the second time.  Advocate Nagendra Naik was among the eight lawyers recommended earlier in October 2019, but was not approved by the Central Government at the time. But now, with a second appearance, there is a strong possibility that the name will be accepted.

Nagendra Naik is a resident of Sarpankatta in Bhatkal Taluk. He graduated from Anjuman College and completed his law education in Bangalore. He has been practicing in the High Court for the last 28 years. Advocate Nagendra Naik, who has a secular mind and a sociable disposition, is interested in horticulture and agriculture besides advocacy. He has also been awarded for his beautiful and showy flower gardening. If Nagendra Naik becomes a High Court judge, it will be enviable not only for Bhatkal citizens but also for his admirers in the entire Uttara Kannada district.
