'Will meet the president over Kambala bill' -Sadanand Gowda

Udupi: According to the sources, the much debated issue of Kambala, the rural sport of coastal Karnataka will be sorted out as the Union minister D V Sadananda Gowda, on 17th April, Monday, said that he would meet President Pranab Mukherjee to get his nod for the bill.

“The bill on Kambala drafted by the Government of Karnataka, has been received by the Central Government. The bill has been processed by the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Law. The Home Ministry has sent the bill to all the three ministries before sending it to the President of India”, said Sadananda Gowda while speaking to reporters at the Circuit House in Bannanje.

He further added “The bill will be sent back to the home minister seeking legal advice on framing rules on Kambala. The process will take 15-20 days. The joint secretaries of the home minister, the center and Karnataka law secretaries had a primary discussion recently to rectify the issue.”

He further said that recently the state leaders are supporting the project while it is being opposed by local politicians and for that reason he will be leaving the issue in public domain and that the water resources department should address the core concerns of the project.

The Home Affairs minister, Rajanath Singh called on the law secretary of the Government of Karnataka and Union Government and a meeting was conveyed between the secretaries and joint secretary of Home Affairs, after being consulted on the matter.

Similarly the issue in framing rules has been set right and it will be sent to the President for his consent as he is instrumental in addressing to the public issues.
