Auto rickshaw hit and turned over on a pedestrian in Bhatkal; 2 injured

Bhatkal: 2 people were injured when a speedy rickshaw hit and ran over a pedestrian near Anfal Super Market on NH 66 in Bhatkal on Tuesday at 10pm.

According to the eye witnesses, Muhammed Natique Lawna (50) was standing at the road side to cross NH 66 outside his house, when an auto rickshaw coming from Shirali and on the way to Shamsuddin circle hit him with great speed. The rickshaw immediately over turned after hitting Natique and causing serious injuries on his head. Auto driver Manjunath Devendra Devadiga was also injured in this accident. Both were immediately shifted to Bhatkal Government hospital where the doctors declared Natique to be in a critical condition and to transfer either to Mangalore or Udupi. Natique was immediately rushed to Udupi while the auto diver who was also injured was shifted to Kundapur hospital.

According to sources the Auto was new and was without the number plate. The auto was also damaged in the accident.

Bhatkal town PSI Kudgunti rushed to the hospital with his team soon after being informed of the news and collected the details about the accident. A case has been registered in Bhatkal town police station.
