Mangaluru: Moderate rains lashed parts of Mangaluru on Wednesday evening. With stormwater drains clogged, rainwater was overflowing on the roads, resulting in waterlogging.
In the last 24 hours, Dakshina Kannada district received an average of 39.9 mm rainfall. This includes 53. 3 mm in Belthangady and 40.8 mm in Mangaluru.
On the other hand, the intensity of sand erosion increased in Ullal coast.
Mogaveerapattana, Kotepura, Kaiko, Subhashnagara, Kileriyanagara, Ucchila and Talapady areas are bearing the brunt of sea erosion.
A woman was washed away in floods at Puttur village of Udupi on Tuesday night. The deceased is Suchitra (25). She was returning home after her work when the mishap occurred. The Udupi district has experienced an average of 67 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
