Bengaluru: Hailstones the size of small coins, a sudden gush of wind, falling trees and water-logged streets — the second consecutive day of evening showers brought along with it drama and chaos on Monday.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, over 10mm of rainfall was recorded in the Central Business District, while Indiranagar area saw up to 15mm of rainfall. The quick burst of rain left a longer impact, as water-logged junctions contributed to the choked peak-hour traffic.

Complaints of water-logging were reported from Nagarabhavi and Malagala flyovers, Seshadripuram and Platform Road in Malleswaram.

The steady gale saw the uprooting of seven trees, apart from numerous branches. Tree fall was reported in Koramangala, Indiranagar, HSR Layout and Kudlu, one each in each of these areas. Several tree branches were reported to have fallen in Koramangala, Old Airport Road, R.R. Nagar, and ITPL.

The fluctuating weather — 35C during the day and rain in the evening — is expected to continue for the next 48 hours.
