Mangaluru: After a lull for few weeks, the rainfall gained momentum in Dakshina Kannada district on Friday. The district has been experiencing rain since Thursday night.

The IMD has sounded orange alert in the district and the region is likely to get bountiful rainfall on Saturday and Sunday. Fishermen had been advised not to venture into sea for deep-sea fishing untill August 30.

In the past 24 hours, the district received an average of 16 mm rainfall with Belthangady receiving highest of 25 mm rainfall.
