Bhatkal: Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted raid on Matsyagandha Express train and seized illicit liquor worth Rs. 25,000 at Bhatkal Railway Station on Friday.
Briefing with media person, Karwar RPF Inspector Praveen Kumar told that, 160 bottles of 750ml and 105 bottles of 180ml Goa made liquor were kept in the General Compartment when the raid was conducted.
Acting on a tip-off, team of Karwar RPF boarded the same train to arrest the accused who were traveling from Goa railway station and were heading towards Bhatkal side, but the suspects escaped in the dark.
The raid team consists of Udupi RPF Inspector Shivram Rathod, Ajish, Venu and Pramod.
The baggage was later unloaded in Bhatkal station and handed over to Bhatkal excise department.
