Puttur: According to the sources, five students were arrested and produced to court on 30th March, Thursday, with concern to a fight among themselves at a private college, Puttur.
The accused, namely:- Akash, Nishanth, Abhishek, Karthik and Nitin were remanded to judicial custody by the court.
The fight is said to have taken place between the two groups on 28th March, Tuesday based on fact that one group consisted of locals while the other group consisted of students from outside Puttur.
Two students, who were staying as paying guest (PG) accommodation, being outsiders in town, were admitted to Puttur government hospital and alleged that a group of students attacked them with the intention of murder.
The duo, Vinuthraj (19) and Rajesh (19), named their attackers as Akshay, Nishanth, Abhishek, Karthik and Nitin.
At the same time, two students from the opposite group, Karthik (19) and Jitendra (19) also got admitted to the same hospital and complained that they were attacked by a group of students.
They blamed Vinuthraj, Yathindra, Thousif, Rajesh, Shashikanth, Bhagath, Dhanush and Gurudarshan for the attack.
The Puttur police filed both the complaints and after further investigation, made the arrests.
The accused were booked under IPC section 307 and were sent for judicial custody after being produced into the court on Thursday.
