Bhatkal: In a proud moment for the coastal town, students from Bhatkal have delivered an outstanding performance in the II PUC examinations, securing top positions across all three streams in Uttara Kannada district and bringing significant recognition to the region.
Leading the achievement, Shifa Anam, daughter of Ameer Hamza and a student of Anjuman PU College for Women, secured the first rank in the Arts stream in the district with an impressive 591 marks (98.50%). Adding to the town’s glory, her college mate Maimuna Ajaib, daughter of Mohammed Ameen Ajaib, emerged among the top performers in Science with 594 marks (99.00%), while Sanjana Nagappa Naik of New English PU College secured a top-three position in the Commerce stream with 593 marks (98.83%), underlining Bhatkal’s strong academic presence across streams.
Further boosting Bhatkal’s academic reputation, two institutions in the taluk — Siddhartha Composite PU College, Shirali, and Beena Vaidya PU College, Murudeshwar — recorded a 100 per cent pass result. In addition, Government PU College, Agasur; Government PU College, Allanki; Pragati PU College, Murur; Sarvabhouma Gurukul PU College, Gokarna; and Nirmala Composite PU College, Kumta also achieved cent percent results across Uttara Kannada district, reflecting the overall strong academic performance in the region.
The achievements of these students, along with the excellent institutional performance, highlight the sustained academic excellence of Bhatkal, with colleges such as Anjuman PU College for Women and New English PU College continuing to produce top-ranking performers at the district level.
In the Arts stream across Uttara Kannada district, Jahnavi Masti Gouda of Government PU College, Hiregutti (Kumta), secured the second rank with 587 marks (97.83%), while Sakshi Vinod Naik of Government PU College, Karwar, secured third place with 585 marks (97.50%).
In the Commerce stream, Chinmayi Manjunath Shetty of SDM PU College, Honnavar, topped the district with 596 marks (99.33%), followed by Pranav N. Bhat of MES PU College, Sirsi, who secured second rank with 594 marks (99%). Sanjana Nagappa Naik of New English PU College, Bhatkal, secured third rank with 593 marks (98.83%).
In the Science stream, Chaitanya G. Hegde of MES PU College, Sirsi, secured the first rank with 595 marks (99.16%). Maimuna Ajaib of Anjuman PU College for Women, Bhatkal, secured the second position, while Raghu Sharashchandra Hegde of Chetana PU College, Siddapur, stood third with 593 marks (98.83%).
The remarkable success of Bhatkal students across all streams, coupled with cent percent results recorded by key colleges, has once again placed the town firmly on the academic map of Uttara Kannada district.
